SICK AND TIRED

I love my country and what it stands for. I love the flag, the Constitution and the culture our forefathers established for us. I love the opportunities that I have been given. I love the freedom to practice my religion and to speak my mind and do what I want to do.

I’m sick and tired of illegal’s getting a free pass. They come here and think everything is free. They don’t like our language, they don’t like our flag. If there’s so much wrong, why not stay and fix your own country? English is our language, if you don’t know it learn it. Why should I have to select the number one or two when making a business call? They came thru the back door, not the front door. They should have no rights, they should have no voice. Why should I or any American support people who come here illegally. What happened to the rule of law? Why should we pay for their education, food, housing and health care? This adds to the country’s debt and my taxes. Try it in Iran or China. Some illegal’s think they have the right to vote (many politicians encourage it), if caught, they should be thrown in jail and deported. The politicians act as though we are obligated to support everyone’s needs. What about our needs and wants? Elected officials take an oath to not only create laws but to also obey and enforce laws, why aren’t they doing it? It’s time for politicians to do their job. Maybe it’s time for them to start thinking about the law abiding citizen who pays the taxes that pay their salary; the law abiding citizen who votes and elects them to office.

I’m sick and tired of the Radical Islamists who want to take over our country and turn it into Sharia Law. It’s working in Europe, why not America? America is a Christian Nation that respects all religions, don’t come here and try to ram your ideology down our throats. If you want to come here, respect our laws. Don’t bring your laws and think we’ll submit to your wishes. If you want to live in a Muslim Nation, go to Iran, Egypt or Saudi Arabia., go wherever you want, but not the U.S... When you come to America you have the responsibility of blending into our society. That’s why we call America the melting pot of the world. We all have to get along and work together. If we go to a Muslim country we must adhere to their customs and laws. They don’t ask us, they tell us, we should expect the same.

I’m sick of the Gay/ Lesbian community pushing their agenda. Why do I have to accept their morals? To me marriage is between a man and a woman. Marriage is to procreate children, that’s God’s law. When two women or two men can procreate, maybe then, and only then can we call it a marriage. What’s wrong with civil unions? Push, Push. Give them an inch, they want a foot, give them a foot, they want a yard. The politicians cater to this group because they feel it’s politically correct. The politician will sell his/her soul for a vote. Maybe it’s time to stop being politically correct and start being morally correct. Government acts like a bad parent, they don’t know what “NO” means. We have lost our values. Morals are out the window. Once we lose our morals and forget God, we become a decadent society, a society destined to self destruct. It was encouraging when the Chick Fil A controversy arose, regarding the CEO’s thoughts on gay marriage, and a majority of Americans defended the CEO’s right of free speech and free enterprise. Stop pushing us, we’ve had enough...

Yes, I’m sick and tired of all of this and the corruption, violence, government regulations and lies that come from politicians and the media. I’m sick and tired of hearing how people want to change our country. I like the country the way it was created. I like the values and principles upon which the country was founded. It makes me sick to see the deterioration of the American Family. It worries me that God is no longer a major part of government and society. I’m sick and tired of a President who is trying to transform and divide our country. A President who lies and uses his golden tongue to deceive and fool the people. I’m sick and tired of paying taxes to support a society that is becoming dependent upon big government. I’m sick and tired of government schemes to reward friends and donors. In general I’m just sick and tired of what our government has become, “USELESS”.

It’s time that all hard working, law abiding citizens take a stand. No longer should we cater to groups who feel they are better than our society. If you want to live here, take responsibility for yourself and your actions. It’s up to you to work and provide for your family. Government was never intended to provide for everyone. Those in government who believe government’s role is to be a provider should be thrown out of office. There is no need for America to change, it’s time to tell the dissidents to love it or leave it. Don’t let them destroy the greatest country on earth.

WHAT WILL IT BE AMERICA - SOCIALISM OR CAPITALISM?

What is the major issue in this year’s Presidential Election? Is it jobs, the economy or the country? I say it’s the country. The country is at stake. The choice is clear, its Socialism or Capitalism. If you believe in President Obama you knowingly or unknowingly want socialism. You want social justice, distribution of wealth, national health care, elimination of the Constitution, a stacked Supreme Court, big government, a new world order, state religion, a government that will control business, more taxes, suppression of a free press and speech. Obama is transforming America through his underhanded methods of change. The MSM won’t present the truth; they prefer to act as cover for the President. The MSM is as guilty as the President in trying to destroy our country. If you believe in free enterprise, the Constitution, the flag, small government, responsibility, freedom of religion, freedom of choice, freedom of speech and everything that has made this country great than your choice and only choice will be Mitt Romney.

America, it’s your choice. I like my freedom, I like to run my own life, and I don’t want to be told what to do or not to do. I’m proud of my country and what it has done. I’m proud of our forefathers and the people who worked to build it. I don’t want it destroyed by a community organizer who wants to transform it into the “Dreams of My Father’. Obama’s 2008 campaign was a lie and his 2012 campaign is a bigger lie. He won’t talk about his failures or the damage he is doing to this country. He uses his voice and words to cover up his lies. He is a deception, a person that can not be trusted. To believe or trust him, his your choice. You can believe in his hope and change. You can believe everything will be fine or you can look at the reality of what is happening to this country. Government wants to provide everything for you and in turn you will become a slave of government. You only have to look to China, Russia and others to see what your life will be like. If this is the America you want, Obama is your man. If you want a country of the people, for the people and by the people than you want Mitt Romney.

OBAMA'S ACTIONS VS HIS WORDS

Charles Krauthammer said that we shouldn’t listen to what Obama says, but watch what he does. Obama’s actions tell the story. The President says he’s bipartisan. I guess that’s why he issued all those Absentee Appointments and Executive Orders. Who needs Congress, they get in the way. He was quick to take control of banks and businesses in attempts to straighten out the economy. The man doesn’t believe in free enterprise or the market doing its job. Where’s a budget, every good business has a budget? Managing and balancing our countries finances is too good for this President. He prints more paper, that’s how you fix problems. Don’t worry; the future will take care of itself... The President says employment is getting better; we just need more time, trust me. What does he do? He issues more regulations, closes coal mines and prevents oil drilling. Oil prices and commodity prices rise, but remember prosperity is around the corner, just wait. Are you really better off than you were four years ago? It’s getting worse, not better. “Give me four more years and I’ll finish the job”. You bet he’ll finish the job. The housing market is in the dumps, foreclosures are common, and property taxes keep going up while housing values go down. Government continues to grow while the private sector shrinks. Who creates jobs, the private sector or government? Obama Care is expected to raise taxes, but Obama says it will create a fair and equitable healthcare system. Everyone will be covered and you’ll pay less. Lies and more lies.

In my opinion, the President’s actions tell me that’s he’s not interested in being President, he wants to be a dictator in the new world order. What’s the UN up to lately? He knows nothing about managing. He’s a Community Organizer... His ideology has been engrained from his radical and socialistic upbringing. His actions emphasize bigger government: control business, nationalize healthcare, tax, spend and spread the wealth. Government will be your master. Government knows what’s best for you. He talks of penalizing the rich and helping the working class. He preaches class warfare, racism and dividing the country. Who gets hurt, with these policies? The middle class, hard working American will be the loser. At their expense the lazy and illegal’s are treated to food stamps, subsidies, no taxes, free healthcare, education, phones, housing. Some call it Communism, Socialism, Progressivism, Statistism. Call it what you want, it’s a disaster. It’s not the American way.

What irks me is that Congress has stood by lacking the courage to react to the President’s policies. John Boehner and Mitch Mc Connel look and act like wimps, old time politicians who need to move over for a new breed of aggressive forward looking patriots. We need leaders like Allen West who will stand up, speak their mind and look you in the face and tell the truth... November’s election should be about exposing Barack Obama and his policies. If Barack Obama is re-elected he will complete his transformation. He will move to abolish the Constitution, end the Supreme Court and make Congress useless. Right now he’s on track. It will be the end of the United States; he will have accomplished his mission and become a dictator in the new world order. Don’t believe me? Look at his actions. He’s clever and a person not to be trusted.

SPIRIT OF 1776

July 4th would be just another day if it wasn’t for the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on this day. The year was 1776, 236 years ago. It was the first major step towards ending the ties with the British Empire. It was the first step in the founding of a new nation. A nation founded on freedom and liberties. It was a nation that trusted in God. It was a nation founded for people not government or rulers. Today we salute and remember the leadership of: Washington, Jefferson, Madison, Adams, Franklin, Hancock, Hamilton and the other men who would bravely sign this declaration. It was the beginning of setting the example for the rights of all people. It set the stage for establishing a Republic: “Of the people, by the people, for the people”.

The significance of July 4th should not be lost in parades, political speeches, picnics, fireworks, leisure and only fun. It should be a day to also thank these men who stood up and fought for the freedoms and life that we enjoy today. We thank them for our freedoms and liberties. We thank them for their wisdom and intelligence in establishing the foundations upon which the United States works. We also have to thank the many men and women who have fought and died to keep and defend these rights and freedoms. Proudly wave and fly the flag on July 4th and everyday. Be proud to be an American and let’s restore America to the patriotism and “Spirit of 1776”.

CONSPIRACY THEORY OR REALITY

Is there a conspiracy to destroy America? Everyday we see more evidence that people are working behind the scenes to destroy the country we love. The debt has escalated to an insurmountable 16 trillion. The debt is the first step towards self destruction. How can we help anyone when we can’t help ourselves. At one time we had leverage to deal with China and Russia, today the table has turned. It wasn’t long ago, that countries looked to us for leadership. Today we seek to become part of a world union where we join and share our wealth, secrets and resources. This union would dismantle our laws and Constitution , we would be subjected to the laws of the new world order I t sounds like something out of a science fiction novel. That is where the Obama Administration is trying to take us.

Is this just a conspiracy theory or reality. I say it’s reality. It’s happening right before our eyes and we stand paralyzed and incapable of reacting. The game is being played right out of the Marx and Alinsky playbooks. They play the race card and class warfare like a fine tuned instrument. The words are disguised with hope and change. Over time we have learned to decode their language. They act like they’re your friend preaching social justice and fairness. The bad guys are the wealthy. The good guys are the unions, and radicals like Van Jones, George Soros and Bill Ayers. The President denigrates the Supreme Court and ignores the Congress. He has no respect for the Constitution. Where’s the checks and balances. Will SCOTUS repeal ObamaCare.? Will the Congress start standing up and start controlling the President. Where does the President get the authorization to continue his spending spree? Who controls the money, the Congress or the President? Will they demand true justice from the Attorney General? Will they continue to allow regulations strangle our independence and economy. Where’s the outcry . What we get is a soft wimper and submission from our representaives. Where’s the courage and patriotism among the Republicans? Boehner is a poor excuse for a leader. The Democrats are like puppets mouthing the same message. Harry Reid is an obstructionist and a disgrace to the State of Nevada. We need leaders, not losers like Boehner and Reid. In November we need to dump the losers. We need a Congress that will take its business seriously.

This is no joke. Our country, traditions, beliefs are at stake. We need people in Washington who will stand up for our Constitution and beliefs. Where’s the backbone to tell the truth. . The Republicans are lacking the fire and spirit needed in a time of crisis. We the people need to get mad and spread our anger and frustration, in a peaceful way, to correct the current trends and direction of our country. We can no longer stand by and depend on elected officials to take control. It’s no longer acceptable to be politically correct and show reverence by preceding our comments “with all due respect’. Be honest, do you really have respect for your elected officials?, It’s time s to stop mincing words and say what you’re thinking.. Being nice doesn’t work. Being politically correct doesn’t work. Let’s start calling them out and demand answers and action.

This is a wake up call. In November our country is at stake. If we don’t defeat Obama it’s over for the U.S. of A. The media will continue to support our destruction and we need to call them out on their deceptions and lies. The Unions are not our friends, they take our money to support an administration that is working to destroy us. We need to control the unions and politicians. They work for us, we don’t work for them.. . Our government is duping us and we need to clean up the mess. We must stand together to defend our country. It’s a war. We must fight to win. If we lose, we lose our country. Obama and his cronies know what they want. They want to destroy the greatest country on earth. This is reality, not a conspiracy theory.

Patlak vs Morrison

In today’s mail I received two pieces of campaign literature. The first was a derogatory piece accusing Dan Patlak of Electioneering, Soliciting, Political Hiring and Shaking down Property Tax Attorneys. There was no indication of who sponsored this trash. The second came from the Republican Organization of Orland Township with Liz Gorman’s signature. The second was billed as; “Your Official Republican Sample Ballot”. If it was a sample ballot, why didn’t it include all of the Republicans running for: Illinois State Senate, 18th District, Illinois State Representative 35th District, and candidates for the 1st and 3rd Congressional Districts? For Cook County Board of Review 1st District it promoted Sean Morrison as ” one of our own”. This was not a sample ballot it was a deception. It was a cheap political piece sponsored by Ms. Gorman.

Every morning I have to listen to the radio ads of Sean Morrison and Dan Patlak. Who’s telling the truth? If Mr.Patlak is such a crook present the evidence and put him in jail. The man has been in office for a short time and is accused of stealing thousands upon thousands of dollars.. That’s hard to believe. On top of that I received robo calls from Liz Gorman promoting Sean Morrison. When will this nonsense end? We don’t need deceptions and accusations; we need honest solutions to real problems. If this is the way people run campaigns, can you imagine how they’ll run their political office?

If Ms. Gorman is representing herself as the Republican Party Chairperson in Orland Township she needs to be fair to all Republican candidates running for office in Orland Park. I would encourage her to show better judgment and leadersip to work for clean and honest elections.. I don’t see her representation and actions worthy of a person that might want to be Mayor of Orland Park.

TWO CONTRASTING STORIES

Last week there were two contrasting stories. The first involved the Georgetown coed who went before Congress, and the world, to profess her promiscuity. Her problem was that she was having so much sex that she couldn’t afford the contraceptives. She came to Congress to ask that they mandate that contraceptives be included, free of charge, in all health care packages. The President of the United States personally called her to praise her courage and stated her parents should be proud.

The second story ,which received little coverage, was the Pentagon’s slashing of health care benefits to the military and their families. There was no Congressional Hearing, no objections from the President. There was little or no coverage from the media.

Where’s our priorities, where’s our moral values. If Washington wanted a political issue they sure picked a poor one. My money should go to the Military not for promiscuity.

Is Christianity Dying A Slow Death?

Question: “Is Christianity Dying A Slow Death”? If you look around, it’s not very encouraging. The Middle East is a time bomb ready to explode. Christians are being murdered and churches burned. Radical Islam is threatening to annihilate all infidels. Once strong religious countries have forsaken their faith and churches stand empty. At home, church attendance has risen very slightly; 42.8% in 2009 to 43.1% in 2010. That’s a good sign, not great, but encouraging. What’s not encouraging is that religious freedom is being challenged every day. Prayer is banned in schools, at sporting events and graduation, Merry Christmas was to become Happy Holidays. The Ten Commandments is not allowed in public buildings. Crosses must be removed from public property. The placement of the Nativity is prohibited in public arenas. The county’s motto; “In God We Trust “is challenged. We’re not supposed to offend anyone. As a country founded upon Christian Judaic principles; I say we are headed in the wrong direction. Where are the leaders to defend our founding principles? Where are the leaders to defend good vs. evil? What has happened to our rights?

Yes, where are the leaders? They seem to be hiding. They don’t want to upset anyone. They are abandoning the courage to preach right vs. wrong, good vs. evil... What we get is Reverend Jeremiah Wright preaching GD America. The recent controversy over the Obama Mandate, that Catholic Institutions provide health care for sterilization, abortifacients and contraception, is an example of what is happening in America. It’s encouraging that Pope Benedict appointed Cardinal Dolan of New York, who stood up and made no qualms about defending his religious doctrine, and defining what was right and what was wrong. In comparison, it is my opinion that was not the story in the Archdiocese of Chicago. The Archdiocese of Chicago decided to place a letter in their bulletins on a Sunday. The parishes were given the option to read the letter, at mass, or let the parishioners read the letter. In my parish they did not read the letter. The following Sunday a second letter, from the Conference of Catholic Bishops, was inserted in the bulletins. Again my parish did not read the letter. Questioning the priests, the reply was, “we don’t want to upset anyone”. Who do you upset by defending your doctrine and telling the truth? I disagree with the Archdiocese OF Chicago. It was irresponsible to not read these letters. The perception is that the Archdiocese doesn’t care what we do. I feel the church has a responsibility for instructing what is right and what is wrong. Has the Church become more pre occupied with money and being politically correct than being spokesmen for God?

In my opinion religious teachings have become watered down. Most homilies are presented as politically correct instead of emphasizing what is right and what is wrong in today’s society. How many homilies do you hear that attack: abortion, murder, drug abuse, child abuse, the deterioration of the family, or alcoholism? I must have been dozing, because I don’t remember any. They may mention these issues, but to attack them head on is another story. Maybe, they don’t want to offend anyone.

In 1979 when Pope John Paul conducted an outdoor Polish Mass, at Five Holy Martyrs Parish, on the Southside of Chicago he reiterated a Polish Proverb, it went something like this:”If you rise early, God will provide for you, if you don’t rise early, God will not provide for you.” I interpret it to mean that hard work and initiative pay off. That was the culture John Paul grew up in. That was the culture of the United States. You worked hard and earned what you had. Today things are changing; people look to government to provide for them. Government is not only to provide the basics: food, clothing and shelter, but also cell phones, homes people can’t support, free health care, credit cards. Government will promise almost anything to get your vote. The wage earner can only afford so much for what we call the Nanny State, after awhile the money runs out. You only have to look to Greece to see what happens when the Nanny State goes broke. The people take to the streets to demand something the government can no longer afford. No one is against helping the poor, but when half of a country is on or looking for some form of welfare something is wrong. The people need jobs, not welfare. We should help people, not make them invalids. An idle mind lurks the devil.

It is my conviction that religion in America is on the downturn. Once it has begun to slide it becomes difficult to reverse. Our government is no help. In fact they may be leading the downturn. The Constitution guarantees religious freedoms; the problem is that many of today’s politicians don’t believe in the Constitution. They take an oath they don’t honor. Another problem is that the current Administration appears to be in favor of secularizing religion. When government starts telling religious institutions what they have to do, they have stepped over the line. Is government to become our religion of the future? You saw it happen in the Soviet Union and other Communist block countries. The religious were persecuted and killed. Government controlled everything and people became poorer. Those who benefitted where the proletariat who became the rich. It was about power and control. Many say, don’t worry. I say we better worry. The lessons of the past are being ignored. Today the Catholic Church supports the liberal welfare and health care policies of big government. They supported Obama Care. These are the same policies that I believe are leading to socialism. I ask, is big government the solution or the problem? The Church needs to reexamine its outlook on the motives and role of big government. The objectives and words may be good, but the outcomes may not be what you want. I believe big government is camouflaging the contents and intent of its policies. The best example is Obama Care. The best government is the government that governs least.

The time has come for religious institutions to re-evaluate their role and interactions with government. I believe this is more important than revising the words in the mass. Most people look to the clergy for the guidance to follow the dictates of God. As sinners we need God’s help to follow his infinite wisdom to provide the help needed to lead good lives. We pray that the clergy will find the strength and courage to defend their religion. We need the “TRUTH”. Without religion there will be no right or wrong. Everything will be right. There will be no sin, there will be no god. There will be no order. Government will be supreme and will rule. The lessons from history are clear. Are we going to pay attention and stand up for what’s right., or will we say “we don’t want to upset anyone.” Is that leadership? How long do we have to be kicked around? The clock is ticking and we are heading in the wrong direction.

REPEAL OBAMACARE

On March 23, 2010 President Barack Obama signed into law “The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”, better known as Obama Care. It was a 2700-3000 page document that very few if any had read. Nancy Pelosi told us “not to worry we’ll find out what’s in it later”. Well it’s later and we’re finding out what’s in it, and the majority of Americans don’t like it. They’re calling for repeal.

Recently an announcement, regarding an Obama Care mandate caused a confrontation. It was initiated by a statement that President Obama made that would force all health care plans in the U, S. to cover sterilization and all FDA approved contraceptives including those that cause abortion. This was objectionable to the Catholic Church because it does not protect the freedom of conscience rights of secular for profit employers, secular non-profit employers, religious insurers, self insured religious employers or individual Americans. The President met the objections with an accommodation that Insurance Companies provide the services free of charge. This was rejected by the Catholic Bishops as a no change. It simply meant that Insurance Companies would raise premiums to cover the cost and the insured would pay indirectly for the same objectionable services.

Washington uses the term mandate; I call it order or dictate. Government is telling you what you have to pay for. This mandate is a violation of my religious rights and liberties covered under the Constitution of the United States. Government is intruding on my religious believes and telling me that my religion is answerable to Big Government. I have no objection to people doing what they want. That’s on their conscience, but please don’t dictate to me that I have to support their behavior. Many liberals say this is an issue of women’s health, I say it is an issue of behavior. It’s an issue on how you want to conduct your life. It’s an issue being decided by beaucrates in Washington. If they’re so interested in determining insurance coverage, why don’t they work with insurance and medical professionals to best solve medical issues? Your auto insurance provides options to pick and choose so you can select the best and most affordable coverage. Why should I pay for someone’s behavior that is contrary to my religious beliefs? If you want that coverage, you pay for it.

Obama Care not only attacks the 1st Amendment’s religious liberties, but has moved its tentacles to cut the benefits of seniors. Obama Care is calling for a $575 billion cut to Medicare over the next decade and using $410 billion of that money to expand eligibility for Medicaid. That’s what I call robbing Peter to pay Paul or redistribution of wealth. People who thought their payroll deductions were being used for retirement are finding otherwise. It was replaced by useless IOU’s. Senior are paying over $100 a month for Medicare, what are Medicaid patients paying, zero? According to Administration actuaries Medicare will spend $14,731 per senior in 2019, instead of $16,162 if the law had not passed. To top it off the Administration will put in place an unelected board called the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) to manage and implement cost cutting measures for Medicare. This is what they meant when the issue of Death Panels was brought up. It’s a way to follow the ideologies of E. Emanuel, Rahm’s brother, as to the value of life. At age zero you have no value and after 40 or 50 the value of your life continues to decrease. That’s how you cut money and show you have no value for life. If you’re very young or very old your government will have no use for you. People over 70 are to be known as units. Units will not be legible for chemo therapy, joint replacement, and heart bypasses to name a few medical procedures. The medical cases will be reviewed by the IPAB. If that’s the law it’s an abomination and must be repealed. It’s age discrimination.

Obama Care not only attacks religious liberty and seniors but also small business. In 1979 there were 279 mandates; in 2012 we have as many as 2100 mandates. The administration has created regulations for regulations. They are strangling small businesses and the medical profession. These mandates have created uncertainty which discourages the hiring of new workers, and the retention of existing workers due to rising cost. IRS agents will monitor companies who don’t comply with mandated health care for their employees. Waivers have been given to preferential businesses and unions. Why should anyone get a waiver? If governments can takeover car companies and banks why can’t they control small businesses and individuals? It’s a step closer to socialism. I don’t believe this is what the founding Fathers intended when they framed the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution.

It is predicted that millions of Americans will be forced out of their health coverage. Many companies will no longer be able to afford insurance coverage for their employees. Insurance premiums will rise making it unaffordable for the average American. What’s the solution, government sponsored insurance or socialized medicine. Something they call the Single Payer System. .If this happens it is predicted we will have a shortage of doctors, it will be the collapse of the best health care system in the world and it will create rationing. We will all be forced to buy Obama care. That sounds like government demanding-forcing a product on its citizens. People will no longer come to the United States for treatment; instead Americans will go outside of the country to look for their medical care...

The best description for Obama Care is that it is an abomination.” In spring 2012 the Supreme Court is to rule on Obama Care. It will be the job of the 9 Justices to rule on the Constitutionality of Obama Care. It will not be there job to legislate or to make judgments based on individual preferences. It is not about what they think or would like the law to be. There job is to rule on the law and how it applies to the Constitution. I’m no legal scholar but based on my research and findings I have to say Obama Care is unconstitutional and should be overturned. It is critical that each Justice back up his or her findings with solid conclusions. based on law. Before voting I ask that each Justice re-read their oath of office to uphold the Constitution of the United State of America.

I ask the Justices of the Supreme Court to repeal Obama Care.

HAVE WE PASSED INTO ORWELL'S "1984"?

The door appears to have opened and we are now passing into Orwell’s “1984”. I feel “Big Brother’ is watching my every movement. Soon, I will become a number among many.

Everyday, I hear more and more about the invasion of privacy. Do I have any rights to my privacy? What right does government or other parties have to my information? Is there anything I can do to stop this invasion? Is my use of the internet safe? If not, why not? What business does anyone have to the information on my computer? The 4th Amendment guarantees:’ the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effect against unreasonable searches and seizures.” Is anyone paying attention to the Constitution? Is it the role of government to protect our 4th Amendment Rights, or violate them?

The government wants to control everything, but it can’t control and protect its own information. There is a story being told that a conversation between the FBI and Scotland Yard was hacked. Then there’s the drone that landed in Iran. The drone was hacked into by the Russians or Chinese and forced to land in Iran. This is big stuff. What is government doing to combat these serious violations and protect us from cyber attacks?

In a recent 60 Minute segment, the show highlighted the fact that drones would be used in New York for surveillance. Street cameras are not enough, now we need drones. Have these tools decreased crimes or accidents? There are plenty of laws on the books to protect the citizenry. In severe cases of terrorism or crimes drones should be considered. I don’t know if I want Big Bother watching my every move.

Government has intruded into our lives by trying to control gun ownership, health care, what we eat, what we drink, what cars we drive, they want to control the air waves and internet, and who gets what. Where will it stop? What happened to common sense? What happened to the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness? Maybe government should get out of our lives and concentrate on jobs, the economy, national security and defense. Does government know what its mission is? Are we the enemy? I don’t believe Government has to become Big Brother and control us as Orwell described in his book “1984”.

Technology has made our lives more comfortable; while on the other hand it has also made it more complex. Who will steal my identity, pilfer my bank account, use my credit card, and use my personal information. Today I can go on the internet and for $39.95 buy your personal information. If I wanted a social security number; I can check death records. Who controls the wholesale use of personal information? Who gave anyone the right to sell my personal information or for that matter anyone’s information.

Fifty years ago this wasn’t a problem. Today we need to protect our information. We can no longer throw personal papers in the garbage; we have to burn or shred them. We need passwords and pin numbers for use on our computers and various accounts. Even with all types of security someone will find a way to get to your information. It can be government, corporations or individuals who invade our world. They use the information for the mailings that flood our mailboxes, the phone calls we get at suppertime, for personal gain, and the bugs they plant in our computers to monitor our usage. Anyone who violates my space and privacy should be prosecuted. I understand there are instances where government and businesses need information for security reasons. There is nothing wrong with collecting data for research as long as it is not personal. There should be limited reasons to know my social security number, phone number, religion, age, medical history, political affiliations, and financial information. That’s private information that should not be used against my wishes. Most companies have privacy procedures they follow to protect us. Maybe the people in government, corporations and individuals should pay attention to the 4th Amendment and privacy laws. We need to close the door on the intrusions into our lives before it’s too late.

G8/NATO Summit Is Coming To Chicago

In May the City of Chicago will be hosting the G8/NATO Summit. This will be the first time in 30 years that any city has hosted both meetings. This will be the 38th G8 Summit and will be held at McCormick Place on May 20-21. The G8 was created in 1975 as the G7 consisting of: France, Germany, Italy, Japan, United Kingdom, United States and Canada. The first meeting was held in 1977. Russia was later added to make it the G8. Today other emerging nations are invited: Brazil, China, New Mexico and others. They discuss global issues: security, economy, environment, and trade, NATO was created in 1949 after WW II. It includes the U.S. and 27 other countries. The summits are expected to attract over 2000 dignitaries from around the globe. On top of the summit the National Restaurant Association is scheduled to hold its annual trade show in Chicago, May 19-22, at McCormick Place... The NRA draws over 50,000 visitors and brought in an estimated $110 Million in 2004.The NRA has been coming to Chicago since 1950.

Chicago was selected as the site by President Obama after extensive lobbying by Chicago’s Mayor Rahm Emmanuel. Chicago offers 2 airports, great hotels, fine restaurants, transportation, entertainment and other amenities. The Summit will be hosted by President Obama. The Summit provides great economic opportunities for Chicago businesses. It is estimated that 10,000 hotel rooms will be booked for the event. Over 2000 journalist will come to cover the summit. The downside is that the summit also attracts protestors from around the world. Adbuster a radical Vancouver based anti consumerist magazine has called for 50,000 protestors to come to Chicago. The Occupy Wall Street Movement has already applied for protest permits. .Historically the summits have created violence in the form of broken windows, turned over cars, in London they wanted to bomb the subways. The riots of 1968 may look like child’s play compared to the planned summit. To counter any threats, the Chicago Police and Fire Departments have been preparing for months. They will be aided by Secret Service and foreign agents traveling with the foreign leaders. This will be an extremely difficult security challenge.

Normally these summits are held in remote locations. The City of Chicago may be disrupted for more than a week... Roads will be closed to provide security for the dignitaries... The Daley Center and McCormick Place can expect large numbers of protestors. It’s hard to predict what will happen at City Hall, the Federal Buildings and Thompson Center. Local businesses were asked to hire more security to protect their properties. The potential for violence is extremely high. The use of modern technology such as cell phones, ipads, and laptops increase communications for the protestors to converge more easily upon areas.

The media coverage will be enormous. If there is trouble the responsible groups and sponsors should be exposed and dealt with quickly. We know the City will protect the 1st Amendment Rights of everyone, citizens as well as protestors... The question is: how well can they maintain law and order? Because of the potential for trouble many people are planning to leave the city. If you work in downtown Chicago, what plans are you making? What do you think of the President and Mayor’s decision to host the summits? The final outcome, good or bad, will rest upon the shoulders of the President and Chicago’s Mayor. It was their decision. We can expect the worse, but let’s hope and pray for the best.

KICKING THE CAN DOWN THE ROAD

You’ve probably heard the saying: “kick the can down the road”. In fact it’s starting to appear in radio and TV ads. It’s becoming very popular. Well, I’ve come to the conclusion the can has reached the end of the road. How much longer can Federal, State and Local governments kick the can? Most government entities are in dire straits. They’ve borrowed to pay for programs they couldn’t afford. Where did they get the money from, pensions and social security? They called it loans. The pension and social security funds have been exhausted to the point little money is left to meet future commitments. Once the money was borrowed it was never replaced, except by worthless IOU’s... Government cannot make up the lost funds. We now worry that this burden will be left to the next generation, our kids and grand kids. Ron Paul appropriately said, “We are the next generation.” We’ve reached the end of the road. There is no money for government to meet its commitments. Government may be good at kicking the can down the road, but they certainly don’t know how to manage or fix problems.

Maybe governments have to stop spending. You spend only what you have and can afford... You create a budget and follow it. You create an environment where people get jobs. Stop supporting and sending jobs over seas. Why is GE closing US plants and spending billions to create jobs in China? We need to start supporting US companies. We need to make it profitable for companies to invest in America. Government has talked about energy independence for years. What have we received, procrastination. Government keeps supporting oil rich Arab countries. The President prefers to see Canada build a pipeline to supply China instead of the US. The President gives money to Brazil to support oil drilling so the Brazilians can sell oil to China. Is anyone paying attention? Who is the President working for?

We need jobs and it’s getting clear that government is working against us. Do you prefer receiving a government check each month or getting a job that pays you a salary.? You can’t keep a country running on welfare checks. Jobs will kick start the economy. With jobs there will be a demand for goods, services and housing. You can’t tell me the U.S. can’t compete with China or any other country. We have the ingenuity and with the right leadership and motivation we can meet any objective. We don’t need a government that wants us to feel sorry for ourselves.

All entities of government need to start learning about controlling money. They need to learn how to squeeze the dollar to get more bangs for the buck. You can’t have slush funds for coffee and rolls. They need to have specific missions and work to meet their objectives in an efficient and productive manner. If you can’t do the job, make room for someone who can. This is the way to get out of the hole.

What has happened to old fashioned accounting principles? In school I learned the importance of balancing accounts, checks and balances, auditing and ethical practices. Are these practices only for the private sector? We have regulations upon regulations for the private sector, what about the public sector? What has happened to reserves for banks, annual audits? If it’s good enough for the private sector, it should be good enough for governments. We used to back up our monetary system with gold, now we back it up with a printing press. Washington, Springfield, Chicago, and Cook County are all in debt. Where were the accountants to oversee this travesty? Where was the use of good accounting practices and standards? The overseers who authorized the use of funds they didn’t have should be in jail. If you finagle the books in the private sector you go to jail. There is no oversight, there is no accountability. Government books should be audited and certified each year, after each audit there should be a published report presented to the public. The time has come to control the mismanagement of public monies. The time has come for government to be answerable to the taxpayers of this country.

Washington, Springfield, Chicago, Orland Park and Cook County have looked and keep looking for more taxes and fees to pay bills. It hasn’t worked. What’s happened is that they borrow more to pay interest on debt. It keeps mounting. They have no idea on how to solve monetary problems. They keep talking and do nothing. So how do they solve the problem, they talk some more. Maybe they should hire some intelligent people with a few brains to help them. I know we can’t send all politicians to jail, but we can start replacing them with competent, honest people who know how to manage money and solve problems. We need to know how the candidates will balance budgets and solve debt problems. What are their answers to social security and pension shortfalls? We don’t need candidates answering questions about sugar cane subsidies or the TV shows they watch. We’ve had enough talk, its time for them to own up to their failures. They can’t kick the can down the road anymore, we won’t let them. Now’s the time to start kicking politicians down the road to oblivion.

ERIC HOLDER

Eric Holder as U.S. Attorney General is the chief law enforcement officer for our government. He acts as the country’s representative in legal matters and acts as lead legal counsel for government. He advises the President on legal matters. To accomplish his task he has a staff of over 300 people.

Since his nomination in 2009, Attorney General Holder has been plagued by one controversy after another. The one that irritates me the most is when Attorney General Holder called the “U.S. a nation of cowards” on racial issues. I don’t believe we are a nation of cowards. I believe the AG is the one with the problem regarding race. In his position, he should be color blind to enforcing laws and work to better race relations. He is the man who wanted to try noted terrorist Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York. He wanted to close Guantanamo and move it to your backyard. He criticized Arizona’s Immigration Law (without reading it), dropped charges against the Black Panthers who intimidated voters at a polling place. He won’t defend the Defense of Marriage Act, provides little cooperation in the Fast and Furious case where weapons were sold to Mexican Cartels. He’s against the use of voter ID’s, he says it’s discriminatory. I say without ID’s the validity of each and every election is questionable. I say my rights are violated by not ensuring that each and every voter is registered and is who he or she alleges to be. How does he justify illegals and dead people voting? I thought the job of the AG is to help States with legal issues to enforce the law. He is abusing his power and position. Where is his justification to backup his off the wall decisions?

SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) is presently being considered by the Congress. It would give the AG major powers over the internet. Could you imagine what changes to the internet this man could make? For that reason alone SOPA should be defeated.

I believe we have a lot to be concerned when it comes to the AG’s performance. Is he for justice or injustice? The President says he has complete confidence in AG Holder. This means the President supports and backs the actions of the AG... In my opinion the performance of AG Holder is sufficient for removal from office. We know the President won’t ask for his resignation, fortunately there are some in Congress who are working to create a case to force his resignation. Why isn’t the entire Congress working towards that end? I believe it’s because the AG and the President would use the race card as the reason for his resignation. Where’s the courage? It’s not about race or color, it’s about performance. If you fail to do the job you should be relieved of your position.

In 1988 he was appointed by President Ronald Reagan as judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. He served briefly as Acting AG under President Bush (41). Under President Clinton he worked for Janet Reno as Deputy AG. When President Obama nominated him for AG he was quickly approved. His ascension and recognition at the Justice Department was fast and noteworthy. From day one he was given plenty of opportunity and was moved up the ladder. Can someone please explain his success story? I believe he has worked against the States and the Congress in failing to enforce existing laws. In my opinion he believes the law should fit his ideology and beliefs. If the AG is unwilling to follow the Constitution and uphold the laws of the United States, than he should be removed by the President. It’s not going to happen. Is this the type of leadership we want to direct the legal matters of our country? If this is a good job, what is a bad job? This is just another reason why the election of 2012 is so important.

WHERE DO YOU SHOP NOW THAT THE ORLAND PLAZA IS NOW GONE?

Since Randy’s closed in July my family has had a tough time in finding a new supermarket/meat market. If you were a Randy’s customer you know what I mean. It was always a pleasure to go to Randy’s on a Wednesday to shop for groceries and meat. Wednesday was Seniors Day (5% discount) and Thursday double coupon day. The staff was always friendly and helpful. Dave the butcher was available to help in selecting or seeing that you got that special cut of meat you wanted. He was there to guide and help you with advice on how to prepare your meats. Rick the store manager/owner was always moving about checking stock, refilling shelves, helping the checkout and bagging orders. Since then, we have tried numerous stores and haven’t found one comparable to the service, prices and quality of Randy’s. I don’t know if we’ll ever find that satisfaction, but we keep looking.

I considered Randy’s to be the anchor for the Orland Plaza; it was the main stop that led you to the bakery next door. Remember paczki day? I love the rye bread and coffee cakes. It was the place to order cakes for special occasions. It was a one stop venture. The bakery may be re-locating but the convenience of one stop shopping has been lost.

While in the mall you could have your watch fixed, clothes cleaned, buy flowers, liquor, get new shoes, get a haircut and more and top it off with breakfast/lunch at the Café and/or lunch or dinner at Lang Lees. That was convenience. Where in the area can you now find a mall with such versatility? These were proud independent store owners who had taken the risk, energy and monies to build their businesses. They were the example of what America is about. There were no vacancies.

So as we now trudge along on Wednesdays, going from stop to stop, wasting gas and time, we think of what we had and is now gone. We think of the goodwill that these people bestowed upon us. It was something good with true meaning. Unfortunately, the Village thought differently. In my opinion they didn’t understand the good and the values that these businesses brought to Orland Park. They used their power and influence to bring change. Change in values and the destruction of something that was exceptional in today’s market place, pride in ownership. They wanted to take us in a new direction. They failed to consider the most important thing in life, people. This was to be their vision of a new and dynamic society. The family values of the old Orland Park were to change. There was to be a transition. The Village was taking us into the future. They were thinking in terms of a mobile, young, social, liberal, modern society. They were preparing us for a new Orland Park. I don’t know if that is your vision? Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t. Change doesn’t always make something better; you have to measure what is being lost.

In short order the buildings will come down and the mall will only be a memory. We’ll miss the mall, the service and feeling of friendship and family. It’s a sad day as we watch a part of history fade away. The small store owner is becoming extinct as they are replaced by larger chains and franchises. It’s not the same. We’re losing our traditions, we’re losing our past. The only thing I can say is “We’ll Miss You Guys”. Thank You, Good Bye, Good Luck, God Bless.

CONGRESSIONAL TERM LIMITS?

One political issue that seems to get little or no traction, in Washington, is term limits. It seems to be a dirty word. Why should Congress change their culture when they control their pay and benefits? They decide when and how much their salary should be. Presently a Congressman/woman earns $174,000 a year. Higher ranking positions earn more. They receive substantial allowances for office space and staff, both in Washington and their home district. By serving only 5 years they are entitled to a pension at age 62. They are eligible at 50 if they serve 20 years, and at anytime if they serve 25 years. They exempted themselves from laws like insider trading. and Obama Care. The only control the taxpayer has is at the ballot box.

It’s interesting to note that from 1789-1855 members of Congress received only a daily pay of $6 while in session. It was about patriotism not pay. That has gradually changed over the years as the pay, benefits and perks have grown. I can understand that they want fair pay, but I also believe the tax payer is entitled to a day’s work for a days pay. As in the private sector there should be some return. What are we getting for our money? The taxpayer expects low unemployment, little or no debt, a sound fiscal policy, legal immigration, affordable health care, elimination of waste and fraud, honest representation, a secure country, a balanced budget, and enforcement of the laws of the land. Don’t they understand why their approval ratings are so low? Washington has failed on all counts. Based on their current performance they certainly don’t deserve the monies, benefits, perks and positions they hold.

In the private sector if you don’t do your job you lose it. In the public sector officials have to be voted out of office. That seems like a simple thing, but historically we keep re-electing the same people regardless of good performance or poor performance. Once in office it seems impossible to remove them. Robert Byrd, of West Virginia, served an unprecedented 57 years. At the end he couldn’t walk and was dying when he was practically carried to the chambers to vote. Presently his family receives his $193,000 pension. The voters are at fault for supporting and re-electing unproductive representatives.

Will term limits solve the problem? Probably not, it will only eliminate some hardworking, productive representatives. I would recommend revamping the compensation, benefits and perks presently received by elected officials. It should be modeled after the private sector. To be honest, many of our elected officials have no real qualifications to serve. Their major qualification was to talk the voters into voting for them. Most of them use the talking points given them by Party Leaders and spend little or no real time creating ideas or solving problems. They vote the party line. Isn’t it interesting to listen to Senators and Congressmen repeat the same words and talking points in interviews? Did we elect puppets? How serious are these people? They should be reading and doing their homework on the legislation they vote on. In the private sector they would be fired. So my recommendation is to tie all of their compensation, benefits and perks to a plan that is comparable to the private sector.

First, I would set the retirement age at 75. Their pensions would be social security with the same conditions as everyone else. If they want, they can pay for their own IRA’s. or retirement... Congress should no longer vote themselves pay raises. It should be determined by the Cost Of Living Index and given when Senior Citizens get their pay raises. Congress should participate in the same health care system as the private sector. All contracts made by congress should be null and void, they did not make them with the American people, and they were made between themselves for their own betterment... How many people running for office in 2012 will run on a platform to make these changes? If they talk the talk about change, than they should be willing to change their compensation, benefits and perks. They should not be allowed to serve as a lobbyists or consultant to government until 5 years has passed since leaving office....Serving in Congress is an honor not a career. They should not look upon it as a way to enrich themselves.

It’s time that we make elected officials accountable to the taxpayer. They are not royalty, they are public servants... If they don’t want to change their culture and start being productive, we need to vote them out. If the voter doesn’t change and take voting seriously than we will get what we deserve, crooked, corrupt politicians... Politicians talk change, but we must demand and tell them the changes we want. If they are above making the necessary changes, than its time to say good bye. YOU”RE FIRED!
